Laura Lynne McGee feels her theatre training has been a priceless asset in her approach to flamenco. McGee has been performing and teaching flamenco for the past twenty years, has performed and choreographed for numerous dance companies and has produced many shows throughout her career.

Quebec – Lina Moros

Lina Moros founded the Ballet Flamenco Arte de Espana in 1990 and opened her Académie Ballet Flamenco Lina Moros shortly thereafter. She has collaborated with the Opera de Montréal, Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, The National Theatre School, Le Cirque du Soleil, Les Sortilèges and artists in other domains. She occasionally serves on the jury of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts as an expert in Spanish dance and flamenco.

Quebec – Myriam Allard

a family portrait…

Myriam Allard began dancing professionally in tablaos in Spain and Japan and joined Israel Galván’s company in Sevilla for his work Galvánicas in 2001. Since then, Allard has been a guest artist and has led master classes for various artists/companies such as Flamenco Rosario, Claire Marchand and Apsâra Flamenco (France). After many years living in Spain, Allard settled in Montréal where she has her own company, La Otra Orilla, and her flamenco studio, el Pleamar.

Ontario – Esmeralda Enrique

Esmeralda Enrique is the artistic director of Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company. In the 1960s, her first gig with José Greco was in Las Vegas, Nevada, opening for a month-long run at Caesar’s Palace for Frank Sinatra. Enrique founded her company and the Academy of Spanish Dance in Toronto in 1982. Dancers interested in a professional career may apprentice with the company for a minimum of six months. In November 2008, she was voted as one of the “10 Most Influential Hispanic Canadians 2008” for her contribution to choreographing and teaching flamenco and Spanish classical dance in Toronto and across Canada.
