Megan Matheson joined El Viento Flamenco, a company initiated by Evelyne Benais, as a dancer/choreographer in 2005. She performs with both El Viento Flamenco and Los Flamencos and runs her own dance school in Halifax.

Quebec – Lina Moros

Lina Moros founded the Ballet Flamenco Arte de Espana in 1990 and opened her Académie Ballet Flamenco Lina Moros shortly thereafter. She has collaborated with the Opera de Montréal, Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, The National Theatre School, Le Cirque du Soleil, Les Sortilèges and artists in other domains. She occasionally serves on the jury of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts as an expert in Spanish dance and flamenco.

Ontario – Claudia Carolina

Claudia Carolina, dancer, choreographer and teacher, is the founder of Theatre Flamenco and currently lives in Toronto. Carolina lived in Spain for more than a decade working and touring as a dancer. She regularly offers workshops across Canada, and takes groups of students to Spain for intensive flamenco workshops. She taught for ten years at the Alberta Ballet School. Along with her various flamenco teachers, Carolina was influenced by her ballet instructor Nancy Kilgore and Dr. John Weinsweig, who taught her music composition at the University of Toronto.

Judith Garcia, along with musician Oscar-José Garcia, created Flamenco En Vivo in 1999 in Edmonton, Alberta. Theyhave been teaching flamenco dance and flamenco guitar for about thirty years.

Fiona Malena is the artistic director of the Fiona Malena Flamenco Society and formed the Fiona Malena Flamenco Ensemble with musicians from Spain. Increasing audience awareness and appreciation of this unique art form, enhancing learning opportunities and facilitating artistic exchanges locally, nationally and internationally are important aspects of where she wishes to take flamenco.
